What we look at.
When researching a ministry, sector or a project, KCG looks at the areas that you find important but probably don’t have the time or means to assess on your own. Using the organization’s website, 3rd party evaluations, audited financials, legal and accounting documents, and other means available; KCG first seeks to gather what we can independently before going to the ministry to request additional information. Not only does this reduce organizational bias, but it also puts less of a burden on the ministry.

Ministry “Best Practices.”
To provide consistency to our research and analysis process, KCG has developed a set of Ministry “Best Practices” that contain the standards KCG considers to be “best” for non-profit organizations soliciting funds.

Standards are provided for the four core areas KCG assesses: Board Governance, Executive Leadership, Financial and Accounting practices, and Marketing and Donor Cultivation (Fund raising) practices. Standards are also included for ministry transparency.

For each of these core sections, standards are broken down into two categories:

• Quantitative measurements that can be measured with a degree of objectivity
• Qualitative measures that remain subject to the perspective and opinion of our experienced research analysts.

All of our reports include a summary section that highlights key findings and comments from the KCG analyst.
